The milkman's son, Gordon Sumner has come a long way since his days in the jazz fusion outfit Last Exit. Sting would join a few short lived bands before he joined The Police, founded by Stewart Copeland. Andy Summers would soon join, becoming the fourth member of The Police.
Around 1982 all three members did some side work: Andy joining forces with Robert Fripp on the 'I Advanced Masked' album, Sting worked on the Soundtrack to the movie he stared in, Brimstone & Treacle & Stewart did the score to the movie 'Rumblefish'.
After there last album, the three did projects again, Andy worked on half the score to the movie Down & Out In Beverly Hills, Stewart cut his 1st solo work (under his own name) title 'The Rythmatist' & Sting also released his 1st solo effort 'The Dream Of The Blue Turtles'
After The Police broke up in 1986, Andy, Stewart & Sting went on there own, Sting being the most successful of the three.
In 2003 The Police were inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame, which would mark the 1st time the band performed a song together in over 17 years.
